International Mariachi & Rodeo Festival (annual) – Mexican charros (cowboys) perform in a variety of events in addition to many Miriachi concerts. This all happens in Guadalajara’s city center.

2011 XVI Pan American Games – The city of Guadalajara used the Pan American Games as an excuse to create a massive new sports and athletics infrastructure. Now the city has several stadiums and arenas designed for sports such as basketball, tennis, swimming, diving, and a whole host of other sporting facilities.

Guadalajara International Book Fair (annual) – The book fair is a great place for authors, editors, publishers, and other literary professionals to all convene and talk about books and publications. There are panels and seminars, as well as locations for literary enthusiasts to meet & greet as well as purchase books.
